About Us, Sarah-Jane & Gérald
A visit in 2006 didn't see me return. Now, Mme Beaumont, wife to Gérald, a bilingual French wine professional and Mum to our two gorgeous children, Augustin (10yrs) and Constance (8yrs). Making our family '5' is Biscotte, our friendly rescue cat who you'll find sleeping amongst the flower beds.
We warmly welcome you to our family home where we hope you will enjoy the peace of our village setting, the regions rich history and attractions, local cuisine and diverse wines.
In July 2011, we opened our bar à vin/bistrot, Bistrot Les Tontons, in the heart of Saumur. Five wonderful years past before pastures new beckoned. Today Gérald is Directeur d’Exploitation for two wineries; Château de Beauregard in Le Puy Notre-Dame and Château des Noyers, close to Martigné-Briand.

Our village Pouançay
Just a quick walk from La Bellevue is the reputed restaurant Trésor Belge open for lunch, dinner and ‘happy hour’ between 5pm & 7pm (closed Mon & Tue). A scenic walk of 9km & 12km is mapped and starts in front of the Mairie passing vines and troglodyte caves, while a leisurely potter to the Table d’Orientation, particularly spectacular at sun-set, gives an impressive 360° view of the surrounding region, highlighting châteaux and points of interest.
St Leger de Montbrillais
(2kms) neighbouring Pouançay is a great little village for pick-up’s, St Leger has a post office, hairdresser, boulangerie (closed Wed), and a highly reputed boucher much favored by ourselves, we highly recommend trying the rillettes d’oie, and be prepared to queue on a Sunday morning!
Montreuil-Bellay
(8kms) boasts a magnificent château whose impressive walls circle the town. Host to a weekly market and monthly Brocante (flea-market) there are a variety of brasseries and restaurants to choose from. Hire a kayak/canoe and spend time on the river, Le Thouet. Visit the château, take a tour and sample their wines. Picnic on a lovely grassed area shaded by trees at the edge of the river.
Saumur
(25kms) twined with Warwick, England and Verden, Germany. Stretching along the banks of the Loire river, its famous château sitting high above the town, Saumur is a delight to discover. A weekly market, monthly brocante, activities, exhibitions and wine festivals held throughout the year. Saumur is also home to the Cadre Noir, the National Equestrian School of the elite French Cavalry whose remarkable horsemanship can be seen at shows between April & October.
