I have to say this was my first experience with home away and I have no regrets. If I could give this experience more than 5 stars I would. The house location is perfect; an easy walk up to the Hollywood sign or Hollywood Boulevard in the opposite direction. The Venice Venice Beach boardwalk and Santa Monica Beach are only a 40 minute drive, and Universal Studios is less than that. This neighborhood is where many Hollywood icons live and you very likely will bump into celebrities. My wife and daughter walked down the street to have their hair done and had an NCIS actor sit down right next to them and strike up a conversation! As for the house - it is fantastic! We cooked out on the deck grill several nights while we watched the sunset over the Hollywood Hills. Every room was perfectly done - I really don't know where to start! Dave was a fantastic host and left us tips and short cuts to use while on our stay. All I can say is that I was sorry to leave and I will rent this home again. If you are considering coming to this area - do yourself a favor and stay here. You won't be sorry.
This house is absolutely spacious and comfortable! We travelled with a large group of people and it was big enough to accomodate all 12 of us freely. There is a lot of living space that allows people to hang out, socialize, or spent time away from the crowd. This villa has lots of character that gives you this LA/ Hollywood vibe. Not to mention it is equipped with everything you may possibly need. The neighborhood is lovely and picturesque. We enjoyed amazing views on a park and a city from the house balconies, terraces, and the street. The location is great as well. The villa is close to all the main LA atractions and sightseeing sites as well as restaurants and cafes. The house owner Dave responded to our questions or requests promptly and was exceptionally helpful. Thank you Dave for a great time we had in your house.
In addition to the detailed reviews of the former renters, it's important to let you know that Dave, the house owner, is very reliable. In this price range, this is very important for me. I have always received a very quick response to my emails and Dave took care of all of my requests.
This villa is absolutely AMAZING. The home is, fully equipped, filled with beautiful furniture and art pieces. The location is perfect, close to everything, just up the hill from Franklin Ave which has some restaurants and amazing night life. The villa was exceptional! we enjoyed our stay and had so much fun. If you plan to visit Los Angeles this villa should be considered. Thank you Dave
If you plan to be in Los Angeles and want to be close to the downtown area, then the Hollywood Hills should be on your list. We spent Christmas in LA, in part for work, and also to visit family. We were looking at something by the beach, but as it was December and cooler, we opted for the Hills and planned to do some hikes. The Hollywood Hills turned out to be a great neighborhood with the charm of a small town and yet is only a stoneโs throw from one of the most commercial cities on the planet. Once you drive past the tourists that line Beechwood St taking selfies with the Hollywood sign as a backdrop, and up Graciosa or Hollyridge, the vibe changes. The streets become narrow, winding, and the neighborhood by its geography is self- contained and the people are great. We were invited to a party down the block, and we had only been there for two days. Daveโs house is situated just around the bend from the top of the hill with a direct view of the famed Hollywood sign outside his front door. The large windows from the living room, bedrooms and game room all look out to the canyon and beyond it the skyline. It is quite an impressive view and the pictures on the listing donโt quite capture it. True to the musical roots that the Hills is famous for, Daveโs house is a music enthusiast's dream. The living room has a built in audio rack with high end components, internet radio and a thumping sub-woofer. He has the same in wall set up in the lower level connected to a Pioneer Elite flat screen. The kids watched Pacific Rim on that and the sound was phenomenal. The high end touches are everywhere in this house, from the Nest thermostats on every floor, to the LG steam washer and dryer, to the Hansgrohe Pharo shower, to the Dyson vacuum cleaner. The furniture throughout the home has an understated elegance to it. Once you are inside you get the feeling that youโre staying in someoneโs home as oppose to a short term rental. Nothing about this place is sterile or generic. When you are use to a certain amount of space and comfort and luxury at home, and you are able to find the same and more from a vacation rental, youโve gotten your moneyโs worth and it makes for a great trip.
