Unique opportunity to stay in a garden flat in a historic 1840s town house. Our apartment is located in a garden square just off the famous Kings Road where Mary Quant, inventor of the miniskirt had her shop "Bazaar". (If you are in the square when Franรงois, the prize-winning Swiss gardener and artist is on the job (one day a week, usually Thursdays), he'll explain the garden design and identify and explain the plants.)
Spacious lower-ground-floor apartment with its own private entrance was completely renovated and re-wired in 2011. As well as a spectacular garden square in the front (accessible by key) there is a private garden in the rear with gas-fired barbecue and a mulberry tree that dates to King James I.
The Victoria and Albert Museum, Science Museum, and Natural History and Science Museums are a 15 minute walk or short bus ride away as is Harrods and the many Boutique shops on Sloane Street. Also not far is the theatre district, Chinatown and the British Museum. The vibrant South Bank with the Royal National Theatre, Royal Festival Hall and the British Film Institute is a short bus ride (No. 211) away as are Westminster Abbey, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace (No. 11).
The lovely Chelsea Old Town Hall is a 5-minute walk away: it has a public library that includes a collection on the history of Chelsea. A public gym and swimming pool are in the same building.
The Chelsea Physic Garden is ยฝ mile away on Swan Walk at Royal Hospital Road. There are daily tours and during the season (April to October) lunch is served at the cafeteria.
Chelsea Green is around the corner (a short walk down Markham Street), a hidden gem of London. While the King's Road has supermarkets, clothing stores and drug stores, Chelsea Green has all the shops of an upmarket village: an English (meat) pie shop, designer children's wear stores, a greengrocer, a fishmonger, a wine shop, a local pharmacy and more. A few streets east is St Luke's playground.
