What a perfect base for exploring the great city of Havana ? and in the care of the loveliest of people. From the moment I spoke to Marjorie in Canada, I knew we would be well looked after. She answered all my questions, arranged our airport transfer for a good price, and provided us with an excellent guide to restaurants, clubs and local sights. The apartment is a block in from the waterfront, in a safe residential area, steps away from two top hotels with taxis and tour operators. There?s a Cadeca in the Melia Cohiba, but we preferred the ATM at Linea and Paseo a short walk away. Paladars Atelier and Decameron (also just blocks away) are not to be missed! La Joyita is modern, clean and safe, with running water and air-conditioning. Our local contacts, Fidel and Maite (who lives in the apartment just opposite) are warm and wonderful people. We had many lovely breakfasts and chats. It was like having extended Cuban family for the duration of our stay. We highly recommend La Joyita. The perfect striking distance to all that Havana has to offer, but in 100% comfort. One tip ? do pack earplugs because the pigeons will wake you up early in the morning!
Me and my 2 friends visit Havana for 5 days and decided to stay by Marjorie and Fidel. Didn''t regret this choice for 1 minute. We were picked up from the airport by Fidel and Ernesto (the best driver). It cost us CUC 40 from the airport to the appartment, on our way we stopped at a hotel to chance some money. The appartment is beautiful. 2 bedrooms and 4 beds. Lots of space and very clean. Felt at home. The appartment is not far from the old town of Havana and Havana-city itself. 10-15 min by taxi. One of the best things of staying in this apartment is the neighbor. Her name is Maite ( sorry if I spelled it wrong ) if I could I would bring her home with me. She is a very nice lady who you can go to of you have any questions. Her cooking!!! Just great!!! Still thinking about it. Thank you everybody from lajoyitavacations. We had a great time in Havana. Keep up the work that you are doing. No complaints at all.
The La Joyita apartment is comfortable, quiet and clean. It's located in an area of Havana called Vedado. It's within walking distance to a major hotel along the Malecon. There you can grab a taxi or vintage automobile to take you around old Havana a short distance away. A couple of great restaurants include El Litoral near the American Embassy and El Cosinero next to the Fabrica de Arte.
As long as you remember it's Cuba, so keep your expectation low , the are is years behind the rest of the world and that is actually the charm of the country. the apartment was in a great condition, Marjorie family treated us very well, including airport pick up and smooth transition to Cuba.
