Our funky warehouse & former tavern turned costume factory turned fabulous Lincoln Park home can be your home away from home in Chicago.
Located in Chicago's newest neighborhood - 'SONO', at the crossroads of Lincoln Park - Old Town & River North - we are just two blocks south of Chicagoโs โlittle Michigan Avenueโ and on the Halsted Street busline, the North Avenue & Division street buses as well as the North/Clybourn Red Line and the Sedgwick Brown Line. In short, there is nowhere you can't get to in pretty much a straight shot.
If youโre heading to Chicago and looking to be near downtown but want a more neighborhood experience with friendly, knowledgeable transcontinental hosts, our home on Halsted just might be the perfect fit for you.
This amazing, bright and sunny 1800 sq foot loft is on Halsted in the Lincoln Park neighborhood is just 2 blocks from the Red Line train, with easy access to three bus routes (one which stops right out front of the building), the Kennedy Expressway and Lake Shore Drive.
My husband and I are just now completing this renovation as we downsize from the amazing dream home we created in the early 1990s to run our translation business and raise our family. Your home base in Chicago is the first part of what will ultimately be 4 urban loft homes in a former tavern & dance hall (1890s) turned costume & magic card factory (1950s) turned our urban dream home (1990s).
After 12 years of managing our vacation rentals in Greece, and one year with our first Chicago rental, weโve learned how to design and build the perfect vacation space for your guests. We love to be able to accommodate families and groups of couples or friends in spaces that sleep everyone in private bedrooms, leaving the common area open for group meals and just relaxing.
This 4 bedroom 3 bath sleeps 12 - 14 guests in real beds in the privacy of bedrooms, while offering plenty of hang around room for everyone in the open floor plan living room (easily seats 10 - 12 around the TV area โ dining room table opens to seat up to 12 - 14 โ chefโs kitchen area - seating for 5 at the kitchen island.
Our spacious, comfortably furnished bedrooms have brand new Sealy Posturpedic beds, high thread count bath linens, and plenty of fluffy towel sets for everyone.
One bedroom sleeps 5 (one has a Queen and 2 twin [single] beds plus a trundle), the second bedrooms sleeps 4 guests in a Queen and a twin [single] bed & a popup trundle, the third bedroom sleeps 3 in a Queen and a twin bed, and the fourth bedroom/den sleeps 3 in 3 twin beds (daybed with trundle plus a twin). Two of the 4 bedrooms are en suite, and the 3rd and 4th share a full bathroom. And though the living room sofa also converts to a single or double bed, the apartment comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests in the bedrooms, without anyone in the living room.
For groups concerned with offering everyone their own bed to sleep in, we can accommodate 12 in individual beds: 3 Queen beds, 9 twin/single beds โ plus 2 in the living room on convertible daybed sofas. No air mattresses!.
Bedrooms accommodate up to 15 guests.
There are three full bathrooms, and fabulous chef's kitchen and plenty of seating and hang around room for everyone, free WiFi, a clothes washer and dryer and easy free parking if you need it.
The neighborhood is great: we've got the second largest Whole Foods market around the corner with it's fabulous food court (5 dining options) and tables along the riverfront, a great neighborhood pub & wine bar, as well as great casual places like SoNo Woodfired, Burger Bar, Uncle Julio's, Dinosaur BBQ, Nando's PeriPeri, Earl's, Yard House, Lyfe Kitchen and Goose Island Brewery if you'd like to sample a local Chicago beer. There's also a several great live theater venues up the street including Steppenwolf and the Royal George as well as comedy & improv stages at the I/O Theater. The Mag Mile, Millennium Park, Chicago's amazing lakefront and Navy Pier, as well as the city's finest museums are all just minutes away - but you're still in a funky friendly neighborhood with great little local shops & cafes as opposed to being in the high rise heartland.
Our proximity to everything and the great public transportation nearby means you don't need a car, but if you are bringing one there is plenty of safe, free parking on our street, and we have an an off street parking space you can add to your reservation (fee).
