My family of 5 (3 small children aged 8,7,2) stayed for a week at the Tropical Garden Villa at Palmetto and absolutely loved it! The decorations and amenities are great - plenty of towels, kitchen items, plates, shampoo & conditioner, games, puzzles, tvs, dvd, movies,etc... The newly screened in porch was a fun place to hang out in the early morning to listen to the parrots or in the evening to dry off before coming in from the private pool... The pool, which was cleaned at least 3 times while we were there, was such a wonderful bonus to have - we spent hours every day at the pool and just loved it. Can you imagine relaxing in a pool while watching tropical birds fly by, iguana & lizards run through the yard, blue crabs pop out of their holes, dragonflies and butterflies fly by... it is something out of a movie! The bedrooms are well divided - with the master on one side (with large bathroom and laundry area) and the 2 guest rooms on the other side (also with a bathroom). The room with the trundle is pretty small - but it was plenty of room for 2 of our kids to share. The home has a lot of extras - such as free wifi, cable, wii game system, movies, books, games, a blender & food processor! When the owners selected "Tropical Garden Villa" as the name - they are not kidding! In the yard there is wild basil (delicious for homemade salad dressing!), mangos, papaya, avocado, tamarind, coconuts & ghost peppers! Not all was in season while we were there - but we loved walking around the grounds to find everything! The house is well located at Palmetto - being close to the main road, but set back from the other homes - and just a 1 minute walk to the beach down a sandy path. The beach was beautiful! Try to make it over mid morning to relax in a hammock on the private dock and pier and then head over to the community pool for a dip or swing in one of the wooden swings in the trees. If you are looking for more "pristine" beach - walk to the left - and you will find a beautiful point where a fallen tree makes for a great bench while you wade in the shallow waters. The icing on the cake for this rental though, was the concierge services offered by the home managers! They will help you as little or as much as you like - but this is truly an added value for the home. They not only help with airport pick up/ drop off, but all other home related items such as trash service or maintenance concerns. The real value is in the help with excursions. They will look up cruise schedules and help you book when it's not too crowded or when the ships are not in, they will call and make reservations for you if needed, make recommendations for shopping, dining,etc.. and of course arrange for transportation. We opted to NOT rent a car and I'm so glad we did. Our car service, provided by Justin, was so well worth it - he was an excellent guide and pointed out different things on the island that you might miss. He was always early & had the air conditioned van ready to go. We needed to make a few stops and he was eager to escort me in the store, help me select items, etc... If you have specific questions, feel free to message me. As a first time visitor to Roatan, I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was absolutely thrilled with every aspect of our journey!!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Tropical Garden Villa and enjoyed many of the activities Roatan has to offer. Be sure to take time to notice the spectacular, breath-taking view of the shoreline as you approach Palmetto Bay Resort. Staying at The Tropical Garden Villa is experiencing your very own, personal, unspoiled paradise. The Villa is surrounded by tropical fruit trees and flowers, conveniently located just a short walk from beach, pool, and a lovely waterfront restaurant. The house was recently redone with modern appliances and tropical inspired furnishings, which complete the feel of being in your own tropical paradise. Warm colors and tropical accents, including locally made art, enhance the mood. The house is immaculately maintained. A wonderful tropical breeze comes through the house. There are air conditioned bedrooms, however we preferred to sleep with the slatted screened windows open and the ceiling fans on. The breeze was relaxing and cool, and the view was amazing. In the yard we would spot hummingbirds, butterflies, and many other species of birds in the tropical fruit trees growing in the yard. There is a beautiful dining area, but we enjoyed our meals on the fully screened porch with views of the tropical garden. A new washer and dryer in the house make laundry convenient. Separate wings of the house allow for privacy for families or couples traveling together. The master suite includes its own bathroom with a walk-in shower. Open the slatted windows to enjoy a warm shower with a tropical breeze. Heaven! The master bedroom looks out over the yard and has a sliding door onto the wrap around porch. The second wing includes another full bathroom with shower, and two bedrooms. The queen bedroom has a sliding door that opens onto the screened-in porch. The kitchen is perfect for making meals in the house, and is fully stocked with all of the tools we could think of to make our meals. We ate breakfast on the screened in porch each morning as we discussed our day, but often had lunch and dinner there as well. The house includes a full house water purification system, and the refrigerator filters the water again and includes an ice maker. The blender is perfect for making piรฑa coladas to enjoy on the porch, and while you sip them you can throw dinner on the grill on the wrap around porch. The living and dining room have beautiful coral reef inspired furniture, and are a perfect place to relax together in the evenings. There are lots of modern entertainment options available. Kids enjoyed movie nights watching DVDs on the large screen television in the living room and playing Nintendo Wii games. There is also a television in master suite. You can plug in your iPod to the stereo system to play music, or listen to CDs or radio. Wi-fi is available, and we found it very helpful for planning activities on the island. Heather and Clay were on site to manage the property and came to meet us as soon as we arrived. They helped us to feel right at home, were easily reached for questions, and were a great source of information about the island. Since this was our first trip to Roatan, we spent time sampling the island. Some of our favorite spots on the island besides the Tropical Garden Villa are Maya Key, Big and Little French Keys, West Bay, and of course the beach right here at Palmetto Bay Resort. We have so many wonderful memories of our time at the Tropical Garden Villa and canโt wait to return.
