The local area is well known for golfing, fishing, hiking and water-sports, and hosts one of the most successful Arts festivals in Ireland. Music is available in local pubs in season, and there are several good restaurants nearby.
The house is an architect designed high quality detached home - set on 1.5 acres , with 180 degree views over Lough Derg and the Tipperary Hills. It is designed to take full advantage of the views, and is a warm home - timber framed with zoned central heating and wood burning stoves . The ceilings are higher than standard, giving a bright airy feel to the home. Accommodation comprises the following:
A large kitchen/living-room/dining-room is at the centre of this home, with southerly aspect, and magnificent views of the lake. This space has a sound system with built in speakers . A three metre square roof window makes this a particularly bright space. The room is adjoined by a living-room with TV - which also has a wood-burning stove. Bedrooms 1 and 2 are at the west of the property, and enjoy en-suite facilities and patios. Bedroom 3 is a double bedroom with an additional single bed, and magnificent views over the lake and mountains.
Optional Bedrooms 4 and 5 are located within the Diner area of the house, loved by younger guests. This area has a Diner style living area with a bar, and a double and twin bedroom.
The optional suite beside the house has two inter-connecting bedrooms( 6 and 7), one with a double bed, one with twin beds. There is also a small shower room with toilet and whb.
Outside, there are extensive patio and decked areas - ideal for lounging or dining al fresco. Children love to play ball in the huge garden, which also has a greenhouse with herbs that guests are welcome to use in season. Many guests have cancelled touring plans, preferring to use the space for a stay-cation - especially those who are enjoying family reunion visits.
The East Clare way walking route ( easy to moderate) passes by, and the area is a particularly restful place, with forests, bog-land walks and beautiful unspoiled views over the mountains and lake. Attractions include Holy Island - accessible by a short boat trip available from the harbor - it is one of the earliest Monastic settlements in Ireland (500AD). There is a great park with children's playground and adult gym equipment, a maze, and at the harbour there is an Eagle viewing station.
There are several restaurants and local pubs full of atmosphere and charm.

Bonjour à tous, Nous venons de passer 1 semaine en famille (10 personnes dont 4 enfants mais on aurait pu être 15) dans cette superbe maison avec une magnifique vue sur le lac. Dans le salon, il y a une très grande table où l'on pouvait tenir facilement et on a vraiment apprécié les petits déjeuners et diners en famille avec un si beau panorama, c'était top. C'est un endroit paisible et très reposant. Le grand jardin était parfait pour les parties de foot des enfants. Ils se sont éclatés. Pendant les quelques jours de pluie, tout a été prévu pour eux : lego, DVD,... c'était idéal. Les chambres sont spacieuses et bien équipées, avec un petit bâtiment séparé de la maison pour être au calme des enfants, ce qui était parfait pour le couple qui n'en avait pas ! La maison est très bien tenue et est irréprochable sur la propreté. Mieux que la plupart des hôtels, honnêtement. Tout est très bien équipé et on a eu aucun soucis. Sinon l'endroit est facile d'accès depuis l'aéroport de Shannon. Et il y a pas mal de balades sympas à faire. Le village est très agréable et les gens que l'on a rencontrés étaient super sympas. En bref, une excellente adresse où nous reviendrons prochainement. Famille Marche
We loved our stay in this beautiful home. It gave us plenty of space to relax. The view was outstanding. The home is a designers showcase. The host gave us plenty of suggestions of places to eat and things to do. If we make another trip to Ireland, we would stay in this home again.
We spent a week in this comfortable home during historic flooding! Although the sun hardly showed itself, the warmth of Prisca's visit to welcome us more than made up for it! No cabin fever with the puzzles and legos and books! The peat and wood was provided, so we really enjoyed the woodstove and fireplace. Also, having rented many homes in Ireland, we really appreciated the excellent setup for trash. Big bins for recycling, as well as trash. (With a big group, trash disposal can be a problem!) Views were great (when we had them!) Easy walks to town, where the community has built an amazing maze that entertained us for hours, even in the rain. The layout of the house was excellent for a large group. (We were 7 kids, 2 adults) All in all, we felt the owners made every effort to make their home a place where we were personal guests! Thanks.
Absolutely fantastic house and responsiveness! The house was in immaculate condition and the owner stopped by just after we were settled to make sure we could use the heat settings, appliances, etc. The power went out in town for about 10 minutes on the first night (it was a fluke – not a common occurrence). The owner was there in less than 2 minutes with candles, matches, etc. just to make sure we had everything we need and could find the flashlight (charged and hanging in the laundry room.) We had everything we needed. We used as a home-base and took day trips to Cork, Shannon, Cliffs of Moher, and the Rock of Cashel. All were within 1-2 hours easy drive. Great location and amazing views. We enjoy cooking and found a very nice grocery in Killaloe about 20 minutes to the south. The views surrounding the home were incredible. We felt grateful to be there and look out at the lake and the open fields every day. The space in the house would fit a large family with ease. We would come back again, it was all so perfect. Wi-fi TV etc. worked great. Just a fantastic time, in a beautiful home, with caring, responsive owners. Thanks for a great vacation!!
Dépaysement assuré. Vraiment rien à redire. Tout y est. Espace, confort, vue magnifique. Très bien équipée, Même des jouets, puzzle, livres ect... Les gens sont également très accueillant.
