THE HISTORY: Part of the legendary horse camp: a one of its kind.
Historically, our property was part of the legendary River Kwai Horse Camp, established by the late German polo trainer, who moved from Bangkok not long after the end of WWII to give birth to the horse riding camp, a first of its kind in Kanchanaburi, if not Thailand, almost 70 years ago. Today our residence is physically still part of this uniquely historical place that occupies approximately a woodland of 28 acres - a largest residential green space nearest to town.
THE RESIDENCE: Timeless Elegance. Oriental Charms. Homey Feeling.
The two-storey building is surrounded by beautiful garden and nature, occupying over half of the whole property. This house-cum-luxury residence was constructed as a home office eight years ago, and has undergone a big renovation to accommodate guests with special interest in a non-conventional place to stay.
Secluded in a rural Thai village only 400 m. from a touristic Saiyok 323 highway, our place always surprises guests with its soothing serenity and astonishingly peaceful atmosphere.
THE DESIGN: Colonial architecture. Clean Contemporary. Oriental Heritage.
The main building design is a perfect blend of the influences of Colonial architecture as seen in Asia and a simple but stylish contemporary design. The interior design is directed by our personal passion towards a timeless charm of classic styled furniture and the cosy touch of the Oriental and Thainess. As similarly important, we integrate the natural elements, i.e light, views of nature and cheerful energy, into the whole design in order to make our residence a truly luxury escape with a touch of nature around.

All 8 rooms have their own bathrooms and feature the same amenities with a touch of luxury, modern comfort and warmth that lend our residence a 'home away from home' holiday haven. All rooms are air-conditioned.

Some 16 years ago, when I first came here on my working trip and saw this property, I just felt in love with it; suddenly thinking that it would be great if I could live here forever. A year later, we bought it and this came as a big surprise! It just happened in its own way.
Historically, our property was part of the legendary River Kwai Horse Camp, established by the late German polo trainer, who moved from Bangkok to give birth to the horse riding camp, a first of its kind in Kanchanaburi some 60 years ago, not long after the end of WWII. Today our property is physically still part of this uniquely historical place that occupies a woodland of 28 acres approximately - a largest green space nearest to town.
In 2008, we started putting a home office, which now becomes a holiday residence in the other half of the property. The building has been renovated in May 2014, to make it a luxury retreat for those looking for a quiet and peaceful place to stay. Our place was softly launched in May 2015.
We are nature enthusiastic, spiritual, environmentally concerned and we do love arts, so we always leave space for nature and arts in the building and throughout the property. Our design, whatever it is, must be in line with and benefit from the natural surrounding and landscape that we have in our area. When we began the renovation, we did avoid cutting trees. If possible, we would adjust a layout plan slightly if it caused some disturbance to our big trees that we value. And of course, we have done for a few times with some tangible evidences still to be seen today!
We are aware that the soothing energy of nature and the peaceful atmosphere create a balance of mind. We are all attracted to this equilibrium and gradually become relaxed by this positive energy that prevails throughout. Once you are here, simply enjoy the place, its tranquil atmosphere and return home fully recharged. That's what our place is meant to be from the very beginning.

We have what luxury hotels should have, but they may not have what we have here: homey atmosphere, warmth and privacy in a unique setting like no other! Nature and pristine surrounding partially contribute to our unique landscape and atmospheric character with an enchanting waterlily pond and iconic Naga in the centre. Sound of nature in the garden proves amazing for most of our guests; birds of various species, squirrels, crickets or sometimes gecko! The serenity and peacefulness is prevailing throughout the property, so that a morning time in a pavilion looking out to a waterlily pond can be a good start of the day or even a morning therapy for some! The soothing nature and positive energy truly offers ultimate relaxation and freshness of the mind.
Rooms are with especially high ceilings, so it is more relaxing and better air-circulated. All rooms benefit from natural light, more or less, enhancing relaxing atmosphere.. Every room has its own bathroom. Some bathrooms are very spacious, with a prevailing touch of luxury and style, fully coming with a hot tub and separate walk-in rain shower.
A common spacious balcony on the top floor is truly ideal for getting together, chatting away or cocktail sipping. One room has its own private balcony overlooking the gorgeous garden and an outdoor swimming pool.
An open terrace in the garden corner by the pool can be another place for recreational activities.
A sun terrace of the swimming pool can be a great place for self-indulging at the end of a day!
Last, but not least, the whole garden and its unique elements; pond, butterflies, frogs, squirrels, birds, windy trail, proves a fantastic place for every single kid who evidently so much love exploring the natural world around them!

We where the first to stay at the Journey House and it was a great experience. Afther a roadtrip from Hua Hin we where welcomed with a nice drink and wet towel. Our rooms where beautifull decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed some cocktails at the terrace with poolview and a frog-toad-cricket concert. At the recommended restaurant the food was super delicious we came back the next evening for more. We would like to thank Jittin and her staff for making our stay in Kanchanaburi a lovely memory. I can recommend the Journey House to everybody who likes peaceful and beautiful surroundings What Conny loves about the house: The atmosphere and loving attention throughout the house.

Jittin gave us a very warm welcome. There was a misunderstanding on the number of rooms since we booked for 16 people and assumed it was 2 in each room. Anyway, we were able to rearrange the room properly. The place was awesome. Bed was large. Bathroom with big bathtub it took us an hour to fill it :) My 2 friends and I just enjoyed our time in the bathtub chitchatting for hours, after jumping to the pool. It wasn't far from the city center. We can easily drive out to buy some food or eat at local restaurants near the River Kwai bridge. Breakfast was more than enough for us and delicious. Jittin was very kind to our group and we'd definitely stay again!

im from south korea. i had great time in the journey house. it was just one night and we left in the morning . but i remember how owesome ! there are beautiful garden and clean pool . also near death railway by car. jittin was super kind to my fam. we had to stay seperlately but she gave to change large room with balcony. and we could have a breakfast 1 hour earlier becouse of my request . anyway i really recommend this house. thank you jittinโฅ

We have no regret to stay in The Journey House in Kanchanaburi. The house is very nice, have at least 8 rooms, all the thing you need will be provided by them including breakfast. There have swimming pool which we spent every morning in there. Jittin is a nice and very helpful person, she gave us many advice on our schedule before we arrive, not even Kanchanaburi. She will share her view on your schedule and provide best recommendation to you, which help us a lot during our trip (we are first time to been Kanchanaburi). The staff in there is also very nice. Overall it can give you a feeling of returning home! We feel very comfort and have joyful experience in there. Before we leave, we are already planing to come again and definitely will stay in this house. If you and/or your friend is planing to go to Kanchanaburi and looking for accommodation, I strongly recommend you to stay in The Journey House! Thank you very much Jittin!
