We are ONE BLOCK from a pristine sandy beach on the Chesapeake Bay!
Cape Charles is a Victorian village, and our grand old four-level brick duplex epitomizes the character of the town. Built in 1923 for two families, that's the way SOUTHERN BREEZES remains today. Choose between the NOR'WESTER for up to 8 people (maximum 6 adults) or the NOR'EASTER for up to 10 (maximum 6-8 adults). Each side is the same size; only the bed configuration differs.
The Nor'wester and Nor'easter each include a living room and front porch, dining room, eat-in kitchen and half bath on the first floor. An easy walk up the presentation staircases brings you to three bedrooms and a full bath. The full basement includes a laundry room with stall shower and sink on each side with four bicycles and crabbing gear, just a few steps down from the outside entrances.
The Nor'wester has 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, 2 twin beds (can become a king), and 2 bunks. The bunks are on the sleeping porch sun room for kids old enough to stay downstairs by themselves. (And they will be thrilled -- there's even a TV!)
Over in the Nor'easter there's a king and a twin in the front bedroom, a queen and a twin in the middle bedroom, a queen in the back bedroom and 2 bunk beds downstairs for kids.
Every room has online movies & music from Netflix, Pandora, Amazon, Hulu, and more. And the living rooms have Angry Birds and Pac-Man games as well.
And of course, we have high-speed WIFI Internet!
The kitchens seat 6, and the formal dining rooms up to 8. The living rooms each have both a sofa and a love seat -- ideal for watching movies on the flat panel TVs.
Each room has a window AC, (6 per side) so everybody can be happy at their own preferred temperature. Or, open the big windows and catch the breezes! The bedrooms also have ceiling fans and transoms over the doors.
There's a shower/bath on each second floor, another shower in each lower level laundry room, and a private hot shower outside (our favorite).
Kitchens include a double-door fridge with water and ice dispenser, Bosch dishwasher, disposal, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, electric teapot, TV, etc.
Four cruiser bicycles on each side, and four more in the carport.
Full-size washer and dryer in each laundry room.
Bed selection ranges from firm to plush, with memory foam toppers and lots of pillows.
Enjoy Cracker Barrel rockers and wicker furniture on the divided front porch, stainless steel pots and pans in the kitchens, and both gas and charcoal grills in each separate picnic area out back.
Sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels (including beach towels), soap, dishes, silverware, and pots & pans. Also lots of books and magazines -- plus the town library is a 5-minute walk away!
This house has it all: historic charm, perfect location to beach and town, and reasonable rates -- all geared toward families looking for a relaxing, spacious, clean but not too fancy old homestead for gatherings up to 6 adults per side plus their children and the family dog. (No cats, please -- they prefer to stay home anyway!)
PARENTS -- This area is perfect for children! There's a huge park and playground just up the street. Bikes are the way to go! There's a skateboard park, tennis court, basketball court (at Baptist Church), beach volleyball games every night, fishing and crabbing. For a change of pace, take a day trip across the bridge to Virginia Beach, Busch Gardens, and Williamsburg.
Cape Charles is also golf cart legal. If you rent a cart, you can keep it in the carport out back.

We are two families who purchased SOUTHERN BREEZES with the aim of retiring here. After living all over the world, we can say we've never seen a place quite like Cape Charles -- the town that time forgot!

Why This Property?
Maybe we're biased, but we think Monroe Avenue is the best street to live on in Cape Charles! It starts at the beach and runs to Central Park, where it stops, so there is no through traffic! You can count the cars that pass in an hour on the fingers of one hand -- and they drive about 10 mph.

Unique Benefits
For all its charm, Cape Charles has yet to be overrun by tourists. Most of the available lodging is in privately owned homes like ours. Come stay in a restored private home and you'll feel like you always lived here!

Everything you could want in a vacation home!

Spent a week with my family at Southern Breezes, and I can't rate this property, and surrounding area, high enough. The house is beautiful, has so much character, is comfortable, spacious, clean, and very well stocked. Lining the quiet street are Crepe Myrtle trees in bloom, very pretty, and nice to look at while enjoying the rocking chairs on the porch. A gorgeous beach is just a block away, an easy walk. The beach was my favorite thing, it was almost like having a private beach -- I never felt crowded, it has soft white sand, I loved it! The little town has nice shops for browsing, restaurants, and a wonderful coffee shop. Everything is within walking distance, and the town is flat so the walking is easy. Last, but not least, I must mention how nice the owners are, how helpful they are, and how they make you feel at home. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

This is our third stay at this property as a family and we enjoyed it tremendously. So much is provided for guests that we didn't have to worry with bedding and towels which are abundantly offered. The bedrooms are very comfortable, entertainment is provided with television connections and good books to enjoy. Cooking is very adequate with utensils, pots and pans, and large sized refrigerator and nice stove. All of the rooms are comfortable and both areas are quite large enabling multiple family members to vacation together.

Thank you for the hospitality! Our family enjoyed some wonderful days at Southern Breezes. Our young children loved the beach, playground, outdoor shower, rocking chairs, and walking to Brown Dog for ice cream. Hope to be back! Thanks so much!
