About John
I live in New Orleans and own three beachfront condos, in Pass Christian, Mississippi and Dauphin Island, Alabama and a mountain getaway in Sapphire, North Carolina. I have my kites and my birding interests. I don't like to walk across the highway to experience the beach. I like to live on the beach. So here you have direct beach living with nothing but raw nature between you and the sand, dunes a ... more +
Why This Property?
This is island living at its best. Having lived on several islands in the Aegean Sea, I know the experience of island living. I know how it feels to see the mainland in the distance while knowing you are not part of the mainland environment. You are in a separate, different world inducing an island state of mind. The rawness of this barrier island captures that sensation. On the island you can exp ... more +
Unique Benefits
Huge balcony with stunning views in all directions--south, north, east & west. You'll find nothing like it on the mainland! The whole island is a bird sanctuary. Please use our high-power binoculars and scopes and our tripods. We have a great library focusing on birding, boating, the Gulf of Mexico, and regional wildlife and history. Extravagant furnishings and distinctive original modern art ! Yo ... more +

This condo was absolutely wonderful. It was fully stocked and we enjoyed the binoculars.
Date of Stay: December 1st , 2015

The condominium resort offered two very nice pools and a full work out facility. I would highly recommend this condo, 606 to anyone looking to enjoy a natural beach.

Great stay -- planning on a repeat next summer...
Date of Stay: July 9th , 2015

The owners have done a terrific job with this unit. It is very clean and comfortable. Everything is well-stocked, from the kitchen to the utility room to the balcony to the bedrooms/bathrooms. It truly was like a home away from home, and I'm a guy who is fairly skeptical and easily turned off by problems in a hotel/condo. Great mattresses too -- I slept well every night. He even has a storage bin on the balcony which contains toys and other items for the beach. As for Holiday Isle itself, another high rating. The outdoor pool is very nice, and the shower/rinse facility when you come back from the beach is very helpful. The staff was friendly, and everything was clean and cool. We loved Dauphin Island, the condo, and specifically unit 606. I definitely recommend it -- it has outstanding bang for the buck. I just hope John keeps his rates where they are because we would like to return for an additional night or two next summer... ;-) A few tips: - If you arrive and it feels a bit warm (ie, the A/C isn't working correctly), check the breaker in the utility room. We found the issue and within an hour the condo was feeling great. - During the weekdays, stuff closes down early. So plan for your dinners and/or ice cream well before 8pm. - The BBQ place was very good. - There is a small souvenir shop across the street and slightly to the east which also serves ice cream. The lady there is very nice and the ice cream is much better than the ice cream next to the BBQ place.

LOVE THAT BALCONY !!
Date of Stay: June 10th , 2015

WE STAYED IN THIS CONDO ONCE BEFORE. LOVE THE BALCONY ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT BETWEEN THE SOUNDS OF THE WAVES, STARS AND LIGHTNING SHOWS PROVIDED BY MOTHER NATURE THE BALCONY IS WHERE WE SPEND MOST OF OUR TIME. TWO LOUNGERS ON THE BALCONY NEW THIS YEAR AND A FAN WHICH WAS GREAT BECAUSE SOME SUMMER NIGHTS ARE MUGGY. CONDO FEELS LIKE HOME AND MATTRESSES ARE REALLY COMFORTABLE. THE INDOOR POOL THIS TIME WAS FREEZING AND WITH THE A/C ON IN THERE IT WAS REALLY CHILLY BUT OUTDOOR POOL WAS NICE. DAUPHIN ISLAND IS SO LAID BACK AND THERE ARE QUITE A FEW DIFFERENT THINGS TO DO ON THE ISLAND IN SUMMER, WINTER, SPRING AND FALL. I DO NOT THINK ANYONE WOULD BE DISAPPOINTED STAYING IN THIS CONDO AND ON THIS ISLAND.

I want to go back now!
Date of Stay: September 10th , 2014

I grew up in Mobile and rumor has it I was conceived on Dauphin Island. I now live in the San Francisco area and whenever I go back home I always rent a place on the island for at least 3 or 4 days. This was the best rental I've had. You can see from the photos that is situated perfectly to enjoy magical views and become one with the island. But first I'm going to talk about the things that are harder to find and make something soar above other rentals. Everything was immaculate and every detail and amenity you could imagine was in the condo. I loved that the furnishing were of high quality, comfortable, elegant and in "like new" condition. The bed linens were high thread count and luxurious and the towels were big and soft and plush and there were dozens of gorgeous towels, face towels and wash cloths. Beach towels - huge, comfy beach towels. The mattresses and pillows were perfect and I slept better than I have in months! I know these things might sound minor, but they are the underpinnings and foundation to a great experience. It means you can show up all tired and exhausted from a trip across the country and walk into this condo and everything has been thought of for you. That is priceless to me. My family and I love to cook. I write about food. The kitchen was well equipped with high end appliances and every gadget a good home chef could want. There was an excellent selection of high end spices and condiments. I was able to make all of my family's beach favorites from West Indies Crab salad, to perfectly prepared shrimp Po-boys, gumbo and shrimp & grits. I saved a fortune not having to purchase a lot of the spices and condiments I needed and then leave them behind. Once again, I was able to walk into that kitchen and get to work with everything I needed right there. Jacuzzi tub in master bathroom - heaven. Views from balcony - 24 hours of gorgeous. Binoculars and birding scope - so much fun for bird and people watching. Beach chairs, toys, shade tent and goodies all there for you to take down to the beach. Stellar laundry room with soaps and everything you need. The condo complex itself is lovely. Indoor and outdoor pool, bicycles, kayaks and a friendly staff. If I died and went to heaven it would be like this - just walk in with the wings on your back and everything else is taken care of for you.
