If you are looking for the perfect place to relax and unwind, look no further. Starfish Beach House is a beautiful home appointed with all of the amenities you need to be comfortable - brand new beds with luxury linens, a fully stocked kitchen, wifi, and cozy furniture and decor. But the most impressive part is the location and view - it is postcard perfect and private. Ten steps from the water, you have access to some of the most amazing snorkeling in the Caribbean, paddle boarding, kayaking, and fishing. Or you can choose to relax on the second story deck, enjoying the warm breeze and vistas that you've only seen on tv. The locals are friendly, the weather is wonderful, and you have all of the comforts of home - I would highly recommend booking your stay here!
We've rented a lot of houses on ____. Rarely do you finish the first day and think, "this is exactly what I expected." Kudos to Sherri and Brian for creating such an accurate listing. So, I'll leave the listing to describe mostly the good attributes of this property and focus more on the "good to know" aspects of our (possibly your) stay here. GOOD TO KNOW: Get a tide table before or as soon as you arrive: http://www.tide-forecast.com/locations/Roatan/tides/latest When the tide is out, the water in front of the house for up to 100 yards is very shallow. So shallow that sometimes the skeg on the SUPs drags on the grassy bottom, and your paddle becomes a pole. When the tide is in, paddling is great, but you still can't really swim anywhere but in the channel they've dug beyond the pier. The reef provides a lot of wave protection. There was NO wave action at all during our stay. The sandfly is the national bird in Roatan. When you live in the north and travel in the tropics, you always have this concern and read anecdotes about no-see-ums. Shit is real on Roatan. Bring your spray. Sherri gave us some. Spend time at the end of the pier, or swimming in the little channel beyond. Wear long sleeves. Whatever. Be ready. We joke in my family that my wife is the juicy one and I never get bit much. My short first walk down the beach produced a gasp from my daughter who then counted 88 bites on my back. Of note for ME, none of those first-day bites ever itched. Your results may vary. Some later bites did itch. Eldon's Supermarket is the finest supermarket we've seen in a Central American tourist destination. Important when you're renting a house and plan on cooking or drinking. It's a solid 15-20 minute drive to Eldon's. Sherri and Brian took us there on the way to the house from the airport. They even had weird stuff we like. That place is squared away and the staff is friendly. You pay electric. We ran the little AC upstairs most nights, and the downstairs ac occasionally. 10-day stay, $90. Kayak out past the reef and tie up to a buoy and snorkel there. Just check for current when you first jump in. We didn't encounter any. Managers Sherri and Brian are responsive. Internet isn't great, but works most of the time. The drive to West Bay is an hour. Go on a no cruise ship day. Great beach, great snorkeling. Pool is good. Wood deck worn. Buy fish from Lambert when he comes along. Nearest restaurant is Cal's. 10 min. Closed Sun&Mon. Good food, nice view. Recommended for: Girls Getaway, Adventure Seekers, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers
What a great, fun week we had.......... the house is perfectly set up right on the beach. SUP was a blast. Sherri and Brian were very helpful. We will be back
We found our house and property managers to be excellent. Attentive and responsive to any requests. A font of information of all things local. The house was extremely clean and well equipped, the furnishings new and comfortable. The onsite caretakers do a fantastic job of keeping the beach and property well groomed. The area is very safe and secure. Everyone we met was extremely helpful. We would recommend this Home Escape home to anyone. The house could easily accomadate two couples or a family. The view is incredible! You will definately enjoy your time here!!!! Recommended for: Sightseeing, Girls Getaway, Adventure Seekers, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers
