Date of Stay August 4, 2012 Helpful votes:6/6 My husband and I were looking for a romantic week in the mountains and we sure found it at Buffalo Bungalo! The cabin was amazing, with all the amenities we could have dreamed of including heated flooring in the bathroom, a massage table, sauna, king sized canopy bed, and a beautiful outdoor hot tub. Perhaps even more amazing than the amenities was the responsiveness of the owners. We know they worked very, very hard to get the cabin ready in time for our arrival (we were the first guests!) and in the midst of their preparation even thought to leave farm-fresh eggs in the refrigerator and marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate on the table. In addition, if there was anything we needed they were very receptive and extremely accommodating. The one-bedroom cabin is very spacious and fully equipped for preparation of any meal--we enjoyed trying new recipes and sharing our dinner on the porch. Thank you Cheryl for allowing us to share our vacation with our four-legged furry family members--it means a lot to us to be able to bring them along. Date of Stay August 24, 2012 Helpful votes:4/4 You HAVE to appreciate the custom, unique features in this cabin. The woodwork and all the little extra things put into the design are of superior quality and hard work! This family definitely put a lot of heart into their cabin! This was our 25th anniversary "getaway" and it was an awesome experience! It was very clean and inviting. The cabin features leave you with so much to do, we were not even able to use all of them. We enjoyed being able to wake up and enjoy the hot tub to soak in and again in the evenings! The game room was enjoyable and the whole cabin is cozy and inviting. It wasn't quite cold enough to use the two-sided fireplace, but we hope to go back in the winter to enjoy it! The owner(s) were a pleasure to deal with and quite helpful. It is located only 30 minutes from Maggie Valley .... Ghost Town .... Cherokee, so we were able to go there without having to spend a whole day away from the property. I captured some great pictures while there because the view at the top of the drive is wonderful. Thank you Cheryl for all your help and I am so glad we chose to stay with you! We will return! We will be wearing our Buffalo Creek hats and share your property with all those we see! Recommended for: Adventure Seekers, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway
Date of Stay August 31, 2012 Helpful votes:3/3 Our stay at Buffalos Bungalow was very nice--the cabin is first rate, with all the amenities. We liked the options of playing pool, using the hot tub, or sitting in the sauna. Breakfast on the deck was so quiet and enjoyable. It was helpful to have a Subway just down the road, to pick up for picnics on the parkway! Recommended for: Romantic Getaway
Date of Stay September 14, 2012 Helpful votes:2/2 Staying in the Buffalo Bungalow was absolutely wonderful! It is really quite beautiful and made with fine craftsmanship. The property was breathtaking with a view of the mountains and lots of trees, even some cows upon occasion. We used the hottub every night, which was heaven. The game room downstairs was lots of fun and provided entertainment when we weren't out and about. We even had two bison steaks and farm fresh eggs waiting on us when we got there, which were YUMMY! We managed to make a trip to Dillsboro, which turned out to be disappointing, and Cataloochee Valley but we saw no elk. We mostly had fun just driving around and finding interesting places like a hostel for AT hikers. We are also geocachers, and there are a fair number in the area. The only complaints I had about the cabin is that the first night, the hot tub smelled very bleachy. Also, we found out we DO NOT like Temperpedic mattressees. It was horribly uncomfortable and hard! However, we will be back in a few years, I'm sure. The area is beautiful and there's so much more we wanted to do and didn't have time. Cheryl was very helpful and answered all my questions and the property with all the different animals is beautiful. Thanks for making our 2-year anniversary memorable! Date of Stay October 10, 2012 Helpful votes:5/5 Our vacation was awesome! We enjoyed the spa, sauna and scenic views. Our day usually consisted of coffee on the deck, hiking, feeding the animals on the property, and enjoying the nearby attractions. Exploring the local businesses was particularly fun, including shopping in Ashville, Waynesville and Maggie Valley, hiking The devils courthouse and soho falls and poker at the Cherokee Casino. It is highly recommended to have a 4x4 vehicle to navigate the driveway. The cabin was beautiful with all of the amenities that we could possibly need (and more!) The farm-fresh eggs and bison steaks were a pleasant treat. Notable food choices are: Butts on the Creek, Hurley's, and Snappy's Pizza. When staying in North Carolina stay here!
