We had a really wonderful time with Max and Lha. They made us feel super comfortable and were ever diligent hosts, helping us out with local advice, encouraging us to go for a bike ride, and instructions on navigating the yellow bus into town. It's super peaceful at their place, and so easy just to relax and enjoy the area. Max has his own tilapia pond, chicken coop, and Lha takes care of the chili plants, papaya trees, and garden. We booked the guest house out back, so were able to cook when we wanted, but more often than not, we enjoyed Max and Lha's cooking. Lha does the Thai food (excellent) and Max cooks up the western food (excellent as well). I'm not one for spaghetti, but Max makes a superb spaghetti and meatballs. Breakfast is truly epic - make sure to have the full breakfast with their home made yoghurt and fresh bread. Lha and Max team up on the steamed tilapia (fresh from the pond). Lha stuffs it with lemon grass, coriander and other herbs, and Max uses his 22nd century oven to steam it to perfection - excellent. Besides the culinary treats, their location is a great starting point for a short trip north. Max knows silk the places. I only wish we could have stayed longer - really the highlight of our time in Thailand.
Wij komen zeker terug. Dank je Max en Lha !!
We stayed here in july 2013 , 2 adults and 2 kids aged 4 and 6. 1 word: Perfect! We enjoyed everything, the hospitallity, the food, the accomodation. No complaints what so ever! Highly recommendable! We would love to go back one day! Stayed September 2014, traveled with family
We have so many great memories of our time at Lha and Max's guesthouse. It is like a little piece of paradise outside of the busy-ness of the city. We loved walking home each night through the local village, past the incredible temple and back to the tranquility of Lha's place. Max and Lha are fabulous hosts and the food is to die for. We ate at their little restaurant most nights and Lha's Thai cuisine is gorgeous. She uses fresh ingredients, many from her own garden. We haven't eaten any Thai food as good as hers since! Max also prepared us an amazing pizza and steamed fish from his own pond. They offer excellent local advice and are always keen to do anything to make your stay comfortable and happy. Our favourite times were sitting on the porch, drinking Chang beer and taking in the wonderful atmosphere of Doi Saket. Highoy recommended.
