This cabin is a great location as a home base for many adventures and interesting sites. This cabin is a great location as a home base for many adventures and interesting sites. Located 1/2-hour from all the attractions in Amish Country, and the same to Canton and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, First Ladies Museum, McKinley Museum, great restaurants, etc. Atwood Lake East Marine is 0.8 miles from the cabin, with boat and pontoon rentals. In winter, cross-country skiers can go back-and-forth on about 12 acres of open land, or if you are a hiker, there are 43 acres with a open paths, plus another 40-acres of public wooded land that abuts my property.
Live theater is available within a 90-minute drive in Cleveland and Pgh., as well as professional sports there.
Those wishing to do none of the above, to just decompress for a few days or a week will find this ideal. Very peaceful, scenic, bucolic setting. You truly can do as much or as little as you want. Picture yourself sitting on the deck, glass of wine in hand, watching a beautiful Carroll County sunset, or watching the flames dance over the outdoor fire pit, which will be lit and waiting for your arrival. My place is close to Beautiful Atwood Lake. You’ll love my place because of the serenity of the rolling hills country, hiking trails over the 43 acres of land, the verdant lushness of spring and the glorious colors of fall. 30 minutes to the art and craft stores in Amish country, or the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the First Ladies Museum and fine restaurants in the Canton and Belden Village area. Pontoon and ski-boat rentals at the Atwood East Marina is a mile from the cabin. Live theater and professional sports teams in Cleveland and Pittsburgh are 90 minutes away.
Cabin has heat and air conditioning for your comfort year around. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.

This property was purchased by my parents in 1951. They sold land on one side of the county road that ran through the farm in 1968 and kept 43 acres with no buildings. The cabin was built in the late 80s and first lived in in 1990.
It has at times housed my parents during the summer, and at other times rented on a renewable monthly contract.

When you arrive you will notice the quaint quality of the gently rolling hills and the combination of wooded and open land. I have hiking trails through woods and open land all over the 43 acres, plus there is a 40-acre plot of old forest abutting my property that is public land and open to your exploring.
One thing everyone who has stayed here so far has appreciated is the open fire pit just outside the cabin. If you like cooking out, there is a charcoal grill available. If you REALLY like cooking out, I have a tripod contraption with a cooking platform that can be raised or lowered for cooking over wood in the fire pit. Also sticks for hot dogs or marshmallows for those decadent S'mores. Did I mention HORSESHOES? Just beside the fire pit. If you've got the spit, I've got the pit. Also bocce on the lawn.
Come in mid-February to mid-March and watch and learn all about making maple syrup the old-fashioned way. Very interesting process from collecting the sap to boiling (and boiling, and boiling) it down into syrup. If you get lucky and we have snow on the ground and you have some kind of sled or equivalent, there are several hills from easy to hold-on-tight. Can even make short (100-130 foot runs) on downhill skis. You'll find lots of options here and within 30 miles. Hoping you've been bitten and want to come see me in this lovely, rural wonderland.

Jan is a wonderful host, made sure we had everything we needed. Was there if we needed him but gave us the privacy. Has a wonderful property with beautiful trails, cozy home feeling, and secluded area, but not hard to find, nor far from town. Over all it was a great place. We will definitely visiting again! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. You had so many interesting stories and the place was truly exactly what we were looking for. We had an amazing time. See you next year!

Jan was a very gracious host. Although married with two young boys, I came to the cabin by myself to decompress for a couple of nights. I was slightly apprehensive as I was a lone female staying in a cabin in an area I was unfamiliar with, but Jan did what he could to make me feel comfortable and safe. The area is very scenic. It was just what was needed. The cabin is perfect for a lone guest up to a small family. It felt very comfortable and cozy. I'm sure that I will be returning if Jan will have me back.

Great little abode. Very private and cozy. Jan was a wonderful host and helpful with any questions we had. Everything was exactly as described on his site, including Jan setting up the campfire for you. The hiking was wonderful as well. I would definitely recommend staying at his place in Dellroy, OH. I would only warn anyone who gets motion sickness that the roads are extremely hilly and has many S turns in the county, so take your Dramamine if needed. Besides that, it is a wonderful weekend getaway.

Jan was there to greet us right when we arrived. He is a very friendly host. Built our fires for us and provided us with information for things to do in the area. His cabin is located only 1 minute from Atwood Lake. Though we went at the end of the season we were able to go hiking and enjoy the fall foliage.
