About Larisa
Carl and Larisa got married and moved to Elkins, WV in 2000. Larisa moved from DC, and Carl moved from VA. Each had prior roots in WV and longed to return. They now live in Elkins just 20 minutes from the 'All Get Out' riverside vacation rentals.
Why This Property?
The location is ideal -- just far enough out to be immersed in the natural surroundings, but only 25 minutes from a full-service grocery store, movie theater, Davis and Elkins College, Randolph County Community Arts Center, antique shopping, and a YMCA. It is an hour from highly-rated golf or skiing. Spring and summer bring wonderful fishing, swimming, floating, and boating in the river; winter is ... more +
Unique Benefits
In 2001 Carl and Larisa were fortunate to have the opportunity to buy this lovely acreage on the banks of the Shavers Fork River from a family friend, just next door to the cabin they've owned since 1995 (VRBO #317752). Since that time they have made several improvements, while keeping the original character that the builder, a mill owner, had created in handmade wormy chestnut kitchen cabinets, e ... more +

Excellent little place. We loved it.
Date of Stay: March 17th , 2016

The property is absolutely gorgeous. The house is quiet and very clean and well kept. All amenities are as described. It's a beautiful stretch of river to fish. We didn't catch very many but I'm sure that wasn't a fault of the fish. Please heed the instructions about directions to the place. My GPS sent me over some pretty questionable mountain roads while we were out and about looking for fishing spots. After finding civilization again, the drives were enjoyable and absolutely amazing scenery, but you wouldn't want to be stuck in a spot with no way out. I highly recommend the place for rental.

A True Vacation Away from it All!
Date of Stay: August 31st , 2013

We had never been to West Virginia before and didn't really know what to expect. First of all on a holiday weekend (Labor Day), the ride was beautiful and if you don't want to sit in traffic, this is the place to go! When we arrived, we loved it immediately. Our dogs loved running the property and being free to roam, swim and go on walks with us off-leash. They also loved the sleeping porch with the windows at their eye level. We thought about going places and seeing other things but enjoyed walking the property, hanging in the yard, the hot tub and just relaxing so much that we stayed put all week. Thanks for providing such a great house with everything you need right there! A peaceful, quiet and relaxing vacation. Just the way it's supposed to be. Get your food and drink supplies for the week and you are good to go. And thanks to Larisa for being so helpful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Perfect Girls' Weekend
Date of Stay: November 13th , 2015

There were 4 of us girls that came in from 3 different states and it was the perfect setting for us to spend a weekend just catching up with each other. Although it was a little chilly, we were able to enjoy the hot tub and relax. The accommodations were comfortable and included everything we could have needed for our stay. The directions were easy to follow, and we had a wonderful time!

Dog-friendly quiet retreat
Date of Stay: September 23rd , 2015

My family and my dogs very much enjoyed our week here. The air was fresh, the river was cool and clean, the house was comfortable. The property was large enough and had enough variety in terrain to make wandering it with the dogs a bit different each day. We saw deer every morning and even a few nights, mostly in the fields but once up next to the house surprisingly. The river was too low to raft but perfect for wading and splashing around which is just what I had hoped for given the season. The river bottom is rocky and a bit wobbly and slipply so be aware for small kids and senior adults (or senior dogs, my older dog was very hesitant but my younger dog leapt in to chase floating leaves over and over and over...) The house was very clean and well appointed, we found everything we needed in the kitchen. Bringing all food for the whole week was very helpful as the drive into town is long and would be a bit scary in rain or dark. The bunkroom was small, fine for kids but a squeeze for teens or adults who would likely hit their heads on the bunks. All the beds had nice mattresses and soft sheets. The dishwasher is a portable kind, not a permanent one in the kitchen, we decided it was easier to just hand wash dishes. The stove, oven etc all worked well but be aware that they might heat very differently than your home appliances. Recommend bringing life jackets for the river and something to dry your wet clothes or shoes or water gear on like a rack or line. The hiking nearby wasn't quite what I expected but the property was so nice that we didn't feel we needed to leave it.
