We just returned from our stay at Villa Alizes, and we are happy to recommend it to fellow travelers. The villa is happily situated in the hills of the North Sound of Virgin Gorda. Beautiful stone steps lead you down to the house where you feel as though you’ve stepped into your own private island home. There are no other villas on your right or your left – only breathtaking views from every room in the house. The colors of the sea are impossible to describe! Lovely sunsets are on your east and west, and the villa is facing north, so you don’t have to contend with hot glaring sun pouring in the windows all afternoon. You do, however, have glorious trade winds that for us, blew nearly constantly. My husband, an architect and builder, really appreciated the use of stone and teak wood throughout the home, as well as the general layout and size. It reminded him of the clean and classic work of Frank Lloyd Wright, and he really enjoyed the beautiful craftsmanship throughout. The villa is so comfortable and relaxing, that it was actually hard to leave and visit the rest of the island – but eventually we did. The villa is stocked with all the essentials for day trips: Coolers, beach bags, beach towels, extra snorkel gear, etc… We had wonderful excursions to Savannah Bay, Mahoe Bay, Spring Bay, and The Baths. We were able to pack a lunch and carry our supplies in and out easily. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need as well. One night we stayed in and seared steaks marinated in white wine, olive oil, sea salt, and Herbs De Provence. Delicious! Of course, the key lime pie at Bitter End is not to be missed, and Hog Heaven ribs – only minutes away, are a must as well. The king bed in the master suite was extremely comfortable, and its location in the middle of the room allowed you lay in bed and watch the boats drift by. One night, we heard a few loud booms, and sat up in bed to investigate. It was a spectacular fireworks show from a nearby island that went on for twenty minutes. We just looked at each other and started laughing, because who would believe that an already perfect vacation would conclude with a fireworks show in bed! We felt like we were in the Truman Show, and the director just yelled, “Cue the fireworks!” Amazing. One of the best aspects of the trip for me, was the personal attention to detail that Michael gave during our trip preparation. She provided so much valuable information – from ferry schedules to car rental. She was always quick to respond to questions, and she was essential in what turned out to be a seamless arrival and departure process. She has a wonderful property manager, Tiina, that helped us get situated upon our arrival, and answered questions during our stay. This personal attention made it as stress free as possible for me. We will return to Villa Alizes again and again.
I would highly recommend Villa Alizes'. We loved the house!!! Breathtaking views from the deck and very comfortable and clean. Perfect for 2 couples. Beautiful views of the bay with all the sailboats coming and going and all the Islands of the North Sound. Michael was very attentive to the needs of her guests. We enjoyed all the beaches, especially Spring Bay and Savanah Beach. It's a quick trip down to Leverick Bay Resort for a swin and dinner or a drink. We found everyone to be friendly and enjoyed many of the restaurants. Sugar Cane was one of our favorites. Recommended for: Sightseeing, Adventure seekers, Age 55+, Romantic getaway
Ocean, hills, sailing ships, quiet, beauty - everywhere we turned we found all of the above, starting with the expansive view from the deck and at perfect beach after perfect beach. We love to snorkel - we recommend Simpson and Nail Bays - and were out for hours every day in the crystal clear waters or tucked under a palm tree on the beach. It was a little crowded right at the Baths (though worth seeing), but there were many other spots that were virtually deserted, none more than a 15 minute drive away. Michael, the owner, was exceptionally responsive and considerate, from start to finish, and we always felt genuinely well cared for, especially as we navigated the plane/ferry/car rental connections. The notebook at the house was stuffed with info and ideas, and the nearby manager was easily available. The house is spacious, quiet, and simply lovely. Two couples can easily fit in with lots of privacy. From the north-facing deck we enjoyed many rainbows, boats, and stars overhead. Of note, eating out was rather costly and limited in quality, so we cooked most of our meals at home. We definitely recommend a car - and the property - and hope to return some day. Great Views & Setting We stayed in this villa for 11 nights in May. Other than the view from up at Hog Heaven the view from the front deck (and living area, and bedrooms!) of this villa has to be one of the best on the island. The villa comes with all the amenities you need with a great location from which to explore the island. You are right at the Leverick Bay resort, which has many activities...plus you can get the Saba Rock ferry over to Saba Rock for happy hour and Tarpon feeding. We did day trips to many of the beaches on the island; the Baths, Spring Bay, Savannah Bay, Mahoe Bay, Long Bay and the list goes on! Bucks Market at the Spanishtown Marina was more than sufficient for all of our in house food/beverage needs and the small market at Leverick Bay was stocked much better than I had thought it would be. We will be back to this lovely spot! Recommended for: Families with young children, Sightseeing, Girls getaway, Adventure seekers, Age 55+, Romantic getaway, Families with teenagers
My wife and I are lucky enough to be able to travel and have a new adventures once or twice a year but always find ourselves coming back to Virgin Gorda and Villa Alizes. Villa Alizes is the perfect spot for couples or families. The views over Leverick Bay are breathtaking, the villa itself is very comfortable and has all the facilities and utilities one might need for a short or extended stay. We will be heading back to Virgin Gorda (for the fourth time) and Villa Alizes (for the third time) this summer and we already know this will be like coming home. The Villa is very welcoming and the hosts are wonderful. We especially love how quiet the Island is and often have stretches of white sand to ourselves. The snorkeling is awesome at The Baths, Spring Bay, Savannah Bay and Long Bay and the reef are right off the beaches, no boat required. Look out for Turtles which often venture amongst the coral hunting for squid. Virgin Gorda is a quiet island so if you're looking for active nightlife, you may want to look elsewhere (though Saba Rock Resort gets pretty lively later on). We can't praise this destination enough and particularly Villa Alizes. Highly recommended.
