About Cathy
I grew up with good old Vermont values. Isle La Motte has always been a special place in my family's hearts. My parents were from the Islands and I can't imagine living anywhere else. I held a degree in Culinary Arts and was a chef in New Hampshire and Vermont then moved to Connecticut but I always looked for a place like home to live and it dawned on me that I should just move back home, that ... more +
Why This Property?
A cherished family home built in 1949-1950 where many memorable decades were spent and savored. Length-wise, our cottage is located in the middle of the island and only 2 miles from Fisk Farm Preserve where their Sunday art shows and garden tea's are a local favorite. The fine dining family-run Ruthcliffe Restaurant is also only 2 miles away. Alburg Links Golf Course and Country Club is 5 ... more +
Unique Benefits
Looking out the picture window, beyond the deck is the lake. Sitting on the love seat it gives you the feel that you are on a boat. You will think you are totally alone on this lovely island until you see someone street-side on a bike or walk by enjoying the day. What we thought we saw in the clouds. Boating, fishing and swimming and enjoying many family gatherings here. One woman that ... more +

family vacation for 18
Date of Stay: August 6th , 2016

We just had a family vacation for 18 members. We rented the island cottage and another house a short distance down the coast. We enjoyed canoeing, sailing and swimming between the cottages. Walking and riding bikes around the island was fun with interesting spots to explore the shrine, fisk farm, looking for fossils, and of course going to the ice cream parlor for "Creamees". Some people explored Montreal, shopping to Essex, Burlington, Teddy Bear Museum and Shelburne Museum. All were easy day trips and with time to be "home" for a family dinner. Followed by breath-taking sunsets, beach bonfires with family time. The owner was helpful and accommodating with getting into the unit and as needed during our stay.

wonderful, clean cottage on the lake!
Date of Stay: September 12th , 2015

This cottage was super clean and well stocked. Cathy was great in helping us when we had special circumstances! The best part of this property is that it is very quiet and it is "on the lake" with no road in front of the house! We are looking forward to staying again--thank you Cathy!

Wonderful Vacation House
Date of Stay: August 8th , 2015

Had a fantastic two week stay at the House. Our 3 kids and dog had a blast swimming. And the pictures don't do it justice -- the shade deck by the dock was cool and shady on the hottest days. And the main deck allowed spectacular views of the sunset. House also is very private with plenty of open space and shoreline. Owner was very accessible and accomodating. We hope to return soon. My Response Thank you for your review. We sure enjoyed how much fun you and your family had. We love it when we see guests enjoying our cottage as our family did. Many establishments remarked on your family like you were old-time visitors here. We look forward to having you here next year.

Highly Recommended
Date of Stay: August 1st , 2015

My husband and I (and our dog) just got back from our third year at this cottage. We were married right there the first year we went. We look forward to going every year and it never disappoints. The cottage is perfect. Tons of room, so many thoughtful little touches, lots of necessary items that we didn't have to worry about bringing ourselves. Loved waking up to the view of the lake (from the bedroom window) before we even got up, loved hearing the water as we woke up and fell asleep. The place was super clean upon our arrival as always, the lawn was freshly mowed, deck was clean, etc. We loved the peace and quiet (no immediate neighbors) and being able to cook and grill and fish and just relax! We look forward to next year. Already counting the days!

Great Spot!
Date of Stay: June 27th , 2015

If you are looking for that classic lake cottage experience this location delivers. The cottage is very comfortable with a large kitchen, perfect views of the lake and mountains, a great deck, dock and swimming area. Bike the island and further, or walk the beautiful stretch of road along the lake. Bring a kayak to explore even more. If you are looking for a getaway this is a special property and Cathy the owner is great. We would return no question.
