The home was beautiful, complete with babbling brook in the backyard. And the amenities provided were above and beyond most vacation rentals you'll encounter, from juice in the fridge to ziploc bags in the pantry and cookies on the counter. Don and BJ were a delight, even going so far as to refund 10% of our booking when they realized my husband was military. The only (tiny!) quibble I have was with the blankets on the main bed, which weren't quite wide enough to cover two adults. But we borrowed from one of the other beds and were snug throughout our stay. Thanks, Don and BJ! My Response Thanks for the great review. We arrive to "A Happy Place' and were greeted by Don and BJ AND home baked oatmeal raisin cookies. They gave us a few leads on places for dinner and then let us be the rest of the weekend. They were wonderful. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. The only very minor draw back was there were several stink bugs around the cabin - but they weren't bothersome at all and our stay was not at all disrupted by them. I would HIGHLY recommend this get away for anyone who wants peace and quiet in a fabulous, fire place lit environment! My Response Thanks for the great review. Fully equipped kitchen. Fireplace in the family room. 2 grills for outdoor cooking. Screened porch with a swing, too. Quiet and relaxing. Far back and down a dirt road at the end. Loads of stars in the sky at night. A fire pit and horseshoes, too. We ate daily at the Gathering Grounds-a go to place for coffee. We also revisited the Luray Caverns and all their museums. We booked Don and BJ's guesthouse thinking that it would be on the small side and not that special, but we were very wrong in both those assumptions. The "guesthouse" is a beautiful log home and comes with all the comforts of a very nice country home: screened-in porch overlooking the Shenandoah valley, gas fireplace in a lovely living room, large kitchen with a gas stove, a laundry room, large bathroom-need I say more? And a big Plus: Don and BJ are very nice and welcoming and very organized people. We look forward to retuning! All those reviews raving about freshly baked cookies and lovable fur babies.... it's all true! We spent mornings relaxing on the beautiful porch/deck, afternoons in easily accessible Shenandoah, and evenings grilling our hearts out. The owners were so wonderful to us, we ended up having to come in late that evening and they stayed up and waited to ensure we had everything we needed. We got to meet there three fur babies, who were so sociable and friendly to our fur baby Cody. The location was perfect, we loved sitting out back and just taking in the quietness and wooded area. Definitely recommend this location!!! The cabin is beautiful and the scenery is picture perfect. Our friends enjoyed it as much as us. The cabin has everything you could ask for from a full kitchen, 6 ft jacuzzi bath, cable, internet, charcoal & gas grill, balcony, screened in porch, laundry room, handicap access, coffee, tea, juice, fruit, cookies, candles, etc. It even came equipped with three fur babies to love on, very sweet and friendly dogs that came for a daily visit. The cabin is located close to the main town of Luray, approximately a ten minute drive tops. I highly recommend Garner Land to anyone! Thank you again for a FABULOUS July 4th vacation!! Our adventure with the Hawk family was a plus. It's not everyday you get to witness these beautiful birds up close and personal. The owners were there if you needed them but gave you privacy as well. There dogs were very enjoyable and very friendly. The owners thought of everything to make you stay enjoyable, including fresh fruit, condiments, juice etc and oh yes those cookies !!!! I would recommend this property and we would gladly stay there again !!!!
