Hi, we're new to this!
This home has never been used as a vacation rental before. We've spent the last several months researching, planning and working hard to make sure it has everything you need.
We're considering the summer of 2017 to be our "trial run" and we'd like you to help. In exchange for honest feedback (along with some patience and understanding that we may have overlooked something) we'd like to offer you these special discounted rates.
All we ask is that each guest is willing to fill out a short survey and leave honest feedback at the end of your stay.
Interior photos will be posted once remodel is complete
We first fell in love with this respite on the river when moving to southeast Michigan for work back in 2009. The surprise of seeing Caribbean-blue water and curiosity of watching a thousand foot ship right in front of us was awe-inspiring. It became our dream to live on the banks of that beauty, and we were lucky enough to make the dream come true. There were so many little surprises that we still miss, like hearing the drone of ships' horns on a foggy night, catching a walleye right from the dock in the spring, or watching the Coast Guard break ice in the winter. We enjoyed this idyllic setting for several years until another job change pulled us closer to the city, but the St Clair River House remains a part of our hearts. We now want to share our love of this wonderful area with all of you.
The St.Clair River House was built as a cottage in 1935 as a Detroiter's vacation home. Much of the historical charm from that cottage remains, with a fieldstone wood-burning hearth still featured as the centerpiece of the open floor plan downstairs. The three small, cottage bedrooms upstairs all have at least partial river views, and even show some architectural detail in their original plaster work. As you'd expect from a 1930's-era cottage, there are some areas of imperfect fit and finish. However, modern comfort, convenience, and beauty do shine through in the newly remodeled kitchen and bathrooms. Multiple-head showers, beautiful stone tile, a Jacuzzi tub, and a heated floor upstairs will transport you from the cottage to a luxury spa. Neighbors are close on these riverfront lots, and we have some of the best on either side of the House. With that, we expect guests who respect the tranquility and beauty of this wonderful place. We hope you love it just as much as we do.

BOAT RENTAL AND MOORING INFORMATION:
While the dock is great for lounging, swimming, and fishing, the mooring of vessels is not recommended at the house due to the waves produced by cruiser/freighter wakes as well as any north wind. However, we do have a slip at Algonac Harbour Club available to guests of the House. Finally, if you're not coming with a boat but would like to get on the water, we have a 2008 Glacier Bay 2640 Renegade SX (great cruise/fish power catamaran), a value fishing boat (1980 Monark McFast 17' with a two stroke outboard), and two personal watercraft that are available for rent. Guests of the House get a 40% discount off the dock and boat rental rates.
Rates before discount:
AHC 30' slip, no electricity: $55/day, $385/week.
2008 Glacier Bay 2640 Renegade SX: $500/day, $2000/week.
1980 Monark McFast 170:
$250/weekend, $600/week.
2001 Kawasaki Ultra 150 / 1997 Sea Doo XP
One PWC: $300/weekend, $700/week.
Both PWC: $450/weekend, $1000/week.
Boat rentals do not include fuel, which must be refilled with Valvtek ethanol-free marine gas. They do include the AHC slip and access at no additional charge.
