About Martha and Leonard
After many years of enjoying the Kealakekua Bay area we were fortunate to find Dolphin Bay House and Cottage. We feel this corner of the world is truly paradise. This is a dream come true for us. We derive much pleasure in sharing our beautiful home, grounds and neighborhood with you.
Why This Property?
This spot is perfect for us. We wanted to be able to walk to the water to go swimming and snorkeling. It was important to us to be off the beaten track in a small community. We are pleased to share Dolphin Bay House and Cottage with you, as we know you will enjoy the fabulous weather, beauty and this very special neighborhood as much as we do.
Unique Benefits
Having your whole family here in a spacious home to enjoy this magical place. Drinking local Kona coffee and eating fresh bananas and pineapples (in summer). Being able to hop out of bed to take a sunrise walk to the beach is exhilarating. And then there are the sunset walks to cap off the day. Of course snorkeling on those calm clear days is also pretty fantastic! We look forward to welcoming you ... more +

Fantastic house right next to spectacular Kealakekua Bay
Date of Stay: March 4th , 2016

We (2 couples) stayed at Dolphin Bay house for 9 nights. The house itself is perfect, and even better than we expected from the photos. The rooms upstairs are spacious, and get great ocean breeze at night. We wouldn't have used AC even if it was available. We didn't use the downstairs room but it looks like it would be a great place for parents/teenager etc. to have some privacy. The house had everything we needed. You can get glimpses of the bay from the deck and living area, and it's less than a 2 minute walk. Most of the time there's less than 10 people at the nice shady and grassed beach park, which has a caretaker there during the day who is very helpful with tips on the local area and ocean conditions etc. There's really no sand left at the beach, but it has a little cove for a calm place to cool off in the ocean and a channel through the rocks for easy access to the bay for snorkeling. You can rent a kayak right by the house too. The road down from Captain Cook to the house is pretty narrow and windy, so be prepared for that, but it's worth it to be close to the bay. Other than the beach there's not anything else within walking distance, but if you're ok with that it's all part of the appeal of having your own paradise. Would stay here again 100 times before staying in Kona itself, much more peaceful, scenic and just felt like Hawaii.

Great vacation!
Date of Stay: December 26th , 2015

The house was very comfortable, bedrooms were roomy and lots of room for a large family. The close proximity to a great park and beach was really ideal. The backyard and covered seating area is wonderful to cool down on hot days. If you want a unique experience that is not 'resort like' this is one we would highly recommend. Swimming with dolphins is a once in a lifetime experience.

Excellent accommodation for families; a destiantion itself.

What a fantastic house for a great family holiday in rural Hawaii! Our family of three couples felt very privileged to stay in this outstanding house: great style, modern superbly equipped, very clean and impeccably maintained. We enjoyed the diverse indoor and outdoor living spaces for all times of the day and all kinds of weather. We all truly enjoyed the house, its very creative garden setting and wildlife in lovely Kealakekua Bay and the surroundings. Thank you, Martha, for sharing this treasure with us.

Wonderful Dolphin House
Date of Stay: March 26th , 2015

We stayed at the Dolphin House for one week in late March 2015 and we loved it. The house is beautiful and it is in a very good partially secluded location. It fit our family perfectly; we were my husband and me, our daughter and son-in-law, their three children (aged 13, 8, & 21 mos.), and our son. Everybody loved the house--the beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms quite nice. The spacious kitchen has everything you need for involved cooking and the appliances all worked well. The open and airy living/dining area and small office/library area were comfortable and well equipped and the small lanai is very nice. The ground-level private eating area with barbecue, full laundry, equipment room, and landscaped yards are useful bonus features. The house is very close to Manini Beach Park (two-minute walk), which is a great place for relaxing and snorkeling--there is an opening in the lava rocks that allows for easy access to the bay--the grandkids loved it. Kristin was wonderful to us and she was always available for assistance and advice. Also, very helpful was the Hawaiian docent at Manini Beach Park--she provided detailed information about Hawaiian culture and local history. We loved the Dolphin House and we highly recommend it.

Awesome Place!
Date of Stay: March 14th , 2015

Incredible house. Beautifully kept. Location could not have been better. we stayed here for our spring break with three little kids and grandparents. Excellent location as we were a minute walk to Manini beach and less than that to kayak rentals. My wife and 10 year old daughter were able to swim with dolphins in the bay, beach combing was great with lots of tide pools nearby. The facilities were excellent at the house with private back yard, outdoor shower to rinse off after ocean swims. we really enjoyed the bbq and patio too and the beds were about as comfortable as they come. The care-taker, Krista was very helpful and available too. An incredible place!
