Another amazing stay at Bear Haven! Summer is the best up there, the neighborhood walks will kick your butt if you walk the surrounding streets. All incline and decline hills with beautiful homes to look at and discuss to keep you distracted from the work out! I am still sore from walking both nights a couple miles after dinner. Seriously! You will sleep like a baby :) We noticed the some rentals around there have sloped driveways going down to the house. That will make shoveling snow harder in the winter months, and Bear Havens driveway slope go up! SCORE!!! These are things you don't think about when doing your research. Can't wait to get away from the LA rat race and come back soon! Thanks again!!!
We've stayed in a few vacation rentals, and it's great to say that Bear Haven is one of the top houses we've stayed in. Two familes with kids stayed at Bear Haven and the layout was perfect. One bedroom and bath upstairs, with the living area and kitchen. And two bedrooms and bath downstairs. You can tell that the house has been updated - new carpet, paint, floors. And the best part of all, which is hard to find, the house was CLEAN!!! The location was great too. Not a far drive to town and up in the mountains in a quiet neighborhood. It's also walking distance to a nice trail. And the kids loved playing outside (the tree swing was a huge bonus for the kids...it's the little things)! We would definitely consider staying here again.
Our family stayed in this lovely mountain home for some mid week skiing and winter fun. When we first got in we were so pleased that this home is so bright and airy inside with lots of lighting (the owner even put on the heat and porch light before we got there!). We have stayed at so many cabins that are dark and dingy feeling and so cold when you first get there, so it was nice to be in a place where all the rooms are bright and warm. This place had everything we needed to be comfortable, we loved the fireplace with the huge TV over it and all the board games underneath the coffee table. The walls are decorated with wood, beautiful quilts (I think the owner made them), and old style signs which gave it a rustic mountain feeling. The cabin stayed very warm and comfortable the whole time. The beds were so comfy and warm! The downstairs bedroom even had kids toys for our youngest to amuse herself with. I am very picky about kitchens and I was pleased with how clean and organized this one is. And the coffee bar was a great touch since I forgot our coffee (My husband is a bear until he has his morning cup) it was so nice not to have to run out to Starbucks! Also, we have never stayed at a cabin that had such a nice big flat yard for the kids to play and make snowmen. The neighborhood feels remote and is so nice and quiet with lots of open land around the cabin, yet it took only a few minutes to get to Bear Mountain! The only disappointment was that my nutty Canadian husband wanted to BBQ out in the snow and the BBQ was not in great condition and did not get hot enough. Finally the owners are so nice to deal with, they are right on it with communicating and answered all our questions and made us feel so welcome in their home. We can't wait to return here for our summer trip!
Our family of 5 stayed for several days and loved it! We were immediately impressed when we walked in at how immaculate and clean it was. You can tell the owners very much care for the property and about their renters. We have rented several properties in the area and this one was by far the best. The owners were kind enough to allow us to utilize the gate for our toddler so he didn't fall down the stairs. We lost power while there (to no fault of anyone. It just happens in Big Bear) and their property manager was very thorough and followed up with us to make sure we were good to go. We very much appreciated the tea and coffee bar. Very nice touch! Another thing we loved was the fact that we have space to put our things! I can't tell u how nice this was!! We were even allowed to use the garage, which was a first for us. Such a blessing when it snows! The upstairs was so spacious with three couches, that we didn't even utilize the downstairs at all really. Also, I loved the tapestries! They were beautiful! The house is about an 8 minute drive to Big Bear slopes and an 11 minute drive to Vons. Lastly, my son took his first steps in this home! We had a wonderful week and will miss Big Bear as this is our last trip before we move to Quantico, VA. You will not regret renting this property. Thank you again!!!!
My family and I had a lovely time at Bear Haven. There was plenty of space and the cabin stayed comfortably warm at night. The Big Bear Zoo is down the street as well as Bear mountain for those who enjoy skiing and snowboarding. Nice large deck with pretty views. Can't wait to come back in the summer.
