Deposit Requirements
We request a $200 deposit by check [which invariably gets torn up or returned]. We have had really nice families over the years, and only once was there a deposit deduction -- mutually agreed upon. An English fellow could not turn on the stove, twisted the knob to the right, broke it and discovered after that one has to push the knob in first. At times I have even forgot the ... more +
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Three times in the past 10 years, we have been able successfully to re-rent a week that a party had to cancel for an emergency reasons. However, we are pressed with 5-figure taxes and cannot as a family afford to lose any July-August weeks. In 25 years we have yet to see a profit. We could probably rent each week 3-4 times in the Jan-May period, but inquiries fall off after ... more +

About Sam Kent
I am a very happy grandfather retired in the desert of Southern Utah, and the grand children are growing up so fast, I may become a G-grandfather? Unbelievable! My G-grandfathers fought in the Civil War? Did that just happen, or am I caught in a time warp? Otherwise, I am an Emeritus Professor from the University of Vermont,. love classical music and make attempts at the piano and do a lot of read ... more +

Gem of a Place
Date of Stay: August 20th , 2016

The cottage is full of rustic old charm and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is very well stocked and we loved eating dinner at the picnic table on the north porch. The cottage is shaded from the trees and can be quite cool in the mornings - we even lit a fire one morning to take off the chill! Afternoons its bathed in sunshine. If you hit it right with the weather, the set up is heavenly between the cottage on the east side and beach on the west side. Sam and his daughter were extremely helpful and so very friendly. We enjoyed talking with them on the sandy beach at the other side of the lake. Having acces to both sides of the lake is incredible! If it's windy on the east side, then it's likely sheltered on west side. The lake is cool and extremely clear. Our group fished a lot and were very lucky to catch two large lake trout - one just about exactly where Sam recommended we try! We brought our own kayaks and also a small motor boat. (We discovered that the canoe leaks so if you like to boat, its best to bring your own) The area has wonderful hiking all around and it's fun to explore the surrounding towns .

Quaint Cottage on Beautiful Lake
Date of Stay: August 9th , 2014

My family of five stayed at the Kent Camp for a week, and fell in love. The cottage had everything you need, including two boats, and spectacular views of the lake. We visited the beach nearly every afternoon, and it was also gorgeous. People on the lake were very friendly, and many knew the Kents. There are spectacular hikes in the mountains surrounding the lake, a rope swing about 1/4 mile down fro the cottage, Devil's rock to jump from, and an ice cream shack about 1 mile from the camp. We loved it there, and are trying to figure out how to spend even more time at the Kent Camp next summer.

Cozy Cottage Right on the Beautiful Lake
Date of Stay: June 15th , 2013

Everything that was stated in the description rang true to its word. It is an older, but absolutely well taken care of cottage right on the lake. The views, when you wake up and when you hit the pillow at night, are beyond gorgeous. Our kids and I had a wonderful time both at the cottage, on the lake, or on the beach, which is on the other side of the lake--and private! We look forward to the day when we can return, which will hopefully be soon.

What a Beautiful Beech
Date of Stay: July 20th , 2013

This cottage is an amazing place to stay. The lake and beach are simply incredible. The views are some of the most beautiful in Vermont. The entire place is filled with a timeless rustic charm and warmth. The cottage is neat, clean, including bathroom, beds comfortable. There is a well supplied kitchen for cooking, nice dishes, silver or just cottage flatware. The experience of having a fine meal with friends or family, is enhanced by the surroundings, and makes for great memories. My two favorite spots are sitting in a chair on the platform right next to the water, or resting on the bed in the front room being warmed by the afternoon sun. The lake is simply the cleanest I have ever been swimming in. Their is a huge variety of books for any one to find something of interest to read on a rainy day, or as you go to bed. Having wireless Internet access allows you to connect to the outside world, research the area, or check up on news/weather. Their are several comfortable beds, with warm blankets/covers. On some nights the loons can be heard. Their calls are truly beautiful and unforgettable. Early in the morning, you sometimes wake to a lake like a giant mirror. During breakfast, looking out over the lake, you can often see ducks or loons swimming by, with occasional fish jumping. In the evenings there is sometimes a spectacular sunset to welcome the quiet clear cool starlit night. Here you can either sit back and relax, or explore the beauty of Vermont's North East. This is a very special place, and highly recommended. Owner's Response: Thank you for your very generous review of our cottage. For this old duffer, it means a lot to have happy campers, but that's what really makes the difference. I may get in trouble for saying it, but taxes take it all anyway. However, the state can't take any bites out of happy families and good vacations. So, there!!!

A Gem of a Cottage with Delightful Privacy
Date of Stay: July 4th , 2009

This is a gem of a cottage and the setting could not be better for waterfront and beach. The beach is beautiful, lovely sand and crystal clear water. The bedrooms are old fashioned and cozy. A delightful surprise to wake up to was the beautiful view of the lake from the front bedroom. The kitchen is complete with quality pot ware, nice china and silverware or the option of paper plates, even with spices and condiments. Taking an early morning swim was unique for the privacy, beautiful views and occasional wildlife. It was like drinking in beauty, so restful. The children loved the beach. We got rained on once, but even that was just plain fun. We stayed anyway and the sun came out. We are definitely returning!
