ENGLISH VERSION OF COMMENTS IN GERMAN: The house is really very very nice, not only from the outside, but also on the inside. It is very friendly and enchants with its charm. Dominique and Jean-Luc, the gardeners-and-administrators, welcomed us, showed us around and explained everything (which can also be found in the housebook), and gave us tips for food etc. in the region. (Secret tip: Le Manoire in Fossemagne, not 10 minutes away) Space is no problem here, there’s lots of it! The decor is nice, yet comfortable and very homey. The kitchen leaves nothing to be desired. Cooking was fun here. We liked that the interior of the house was original, despite new windows (which have old French cremone bars!) The bathrooms are beautiful and modern. There are lots of brochures and tourist suggestions for excursions to explore the dreamlike beauty of the landscape of the Périgord Noir. Lascaux IV and Lascaux II (definitely look at both, very different kind of presentation) are just fifteen minutes away, as well as numerous caves of different kinds, charming gardens, castles and, and, and... Our five nights were too few, the days very intense. In the evening, we would return home from an amazing program of explorations. And then, after a home cooked enchanting meal before a crackling fire in the fireplace, we would talk about the day or drift into more or less philosophical discussions. A simple and pure holiday. We will certainly be back!
Das Haus ist wirklich sehr sehr schön, nicht nur von außen, sondern auch von innen. Es nimmt einen sehr freundlich auf und verzaubert mit seinem Charme. Dominique und Jean-Luc, die Gärtner-Verwalter, nahmen uns herzlich in Empfang, zeigten und erklärten uns alles (was man nicht mehr weiß, kann man im ausliegenden Buch nachlesen), gaben uns Tipps für Essen etc. in der Umgebung (Geheimtipp: Le Manoire in Fossemagne, keine 10 mins entfernt), wären stets bei Problemen erreichbar gewesen (gab aber keine Probleme). Platz ist kein Problem hier! Die Einrichtung ist schön und trotzdem bequem und sehr heimelig. Die Küche lässt keine Wünsche offen! Kochen gelingt hier jedem. Uns hat gefallen, dass innen alles weitgehend original belassen wurde, trotz neuer Fenster - mit den alten Riegeln! schön - und modernster Badausrüstung. Alle möglichen Prospekte und touristischen Anregungen für Ausflüge liegen aus, den Rest erledigt die traumhafte Schönheit der Landschaft des Périgord Noir. Lascaux IV und Lascaux II (unbedingt beides anschauen, sehr andersartige Art der Präsentation) sind nur einen Katzensprung entfernt sowie zahlreiche Tropfsteinhöhlen unterschiedlichster Ausprägung, bezaubernde Gärten und und und. Fünf Nächte waren zu wenig, die Tage sehr intensiv. Abends müde heimzukehren von einem erstaunlichen Programm und dann nach einem selbstgezauberten Mahl vor einem knisternden Feuerchen im Kamin den Tag Revue passieren zu lassen oder mehr oder minder philosophische Diskussionen zu führen ist einfach Urlaub pur. Wir werden sicher wiederkommen!
ENGLISH: This house is absolutely amazing !!! It's the DREAM HOUSE ! It's very big and tastefully furnished in a peaceful environment. The living-room is so comfortable and cosy , the kitchen is equipped for a chef ,The bedrooms are spacious , not to mention the softness of the sheets...There's nothing wrong, really... We felt we were at home ... I highly recommend this house to people looking for nice and peaceful holidays in Dordogne. Sandrine, who welcomed us, is very kind and available for any information. FRANCAIS: La maison est fantastique ! Meublée et décorée avec beaucoup de goût, elle offre un espace de vie spacieux et raffiné. Le matériel et les ustensiles de cuisine sont nombreux et permettent d'élaborer des repas gastronomiques. Les chambres et les salles de bains sont aussi très confortables et très bien aménagées . Je recommande vivement cette demeure à tous ceux qui souhaitent passer d'inoubliables vacances au calme dans le Périgord. C'est vraiment une maison de rêve. Sandrine, qui nous a accueillis, est très gentille et disponible.
The house is delightful, beautifully furnished and very well equipped-far better than average, even with fresh coffee. The town is delightfully untouristy and well positioned to explore the Dordogne. The owner was delightful and could not have been more helpful -- nothing was too much trouble and he answered my questions very fully. I rate every aspect of this rental as 5 stars out of 5.
